GEL is a major player in the advancement of technology and computer systems. We particularly rely on our proprietary networked Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This system is uniquely flexible and is composed of both an application server and a database server running Oracle. The application server resides on a Sun Enterprise 3000 system with six 400 MHz CPUs. Our database server resides on a Sun Enterprise E4500 with twelve 400 MHz CPUs. A sample of our LIMS features is listed below.
- Batches quality control (QC) samples with samples ensuring traceability of QC data.
- Performs automatic checks to ensure that results fall wit in the acceptable QC range.
- Interfaces analytical instrumentation directly to the system, improving sample throughput and eliminating the possibility of data input errors.
- Generates customized reports and electronic data deliverables that are tailored to specific client needs; more than 300 unique EDD formats are supported currently.
- Tracks laboratory capacity and forecasts workload in each laboratory department. (i.e. VOAs, BNAs, metals, RAD, etc.)
