Tough Deadlines Met for Important City Project
Charleston, SC
A city housing department received a HUD grant to provide repairs
and renovations for 165 homes in low-income housing neighborhoods. Lead based paint (LBP) testing needed to be
conducted prior to painting and construction activities. However, the problem arose that painting was to be
conducted by volunteer organizations, necessitating that LBP inspections be performed quickly and be arranged
around volunteer schedules.
GEL Engineering, LLC accommodated the City by responding quickly on an on-call basis
and maintaining a flexible work schedule including performing services during off-hours. GEL Engineering, LLC
performed LBP testing, completed hazardous control work specifications as needed, and provided clearance
evaluations – all within schedule so that construction activities could take place without delay. Problem solved.
