GEL has an extensive full service environmental chemistry laboratory dedicated to supporting organic, inorganic, and specialty analyses. Our chemistry laboratory can safely process samples in virtually every environmental matrix possible including drinking water, wastewater, groundwater, soil, oils, sludge, air, air filters, biota hazardous waste and mixed waste supporting various DOE, DOD, USACE, private, and industrial projects. We have multiple reporting platforms including nearly 300 different electronic data deliverable formats. We tailor many of our deliverables based on clients’ needs.
The organics laboratory consists of 16 GC/MS instruments for volatile and semivolatile organic analysis. Routine analysis methods include SW846, EPA 600, and EPA 524.2 low-level volatile organics. Additionally, the laboratory has 8 dual GC/ECD plus 4 GC/FID instruments for the analysis of pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB), herbicides, haloacetic acids, and multiple gasoline/diesel range organics.
The inorganics laboratory consists of 3 ICP/MS, 3 ICP, and 2 CVAA instruments for the analysis of metals and mercury using SW846, EPA 200, and ILM-CLP methods. The laboratory performs a variety of supporting chemistry methods including ion chromatography, spectrophotometer, total halides, total carbon, cyanide, phenol, and various wet chemistry procedures.
We also support the analysis of mercury by EPA method 1631. The laboratory has 2 low-level mercury instruments dedicated to analyzing samples from various federal and industrial sources for regulatory purposes.
GEL has 4 LC/MS/MS instruments dedicated solely to the analysis of high explosives and perchlorate compounds. We are able to analyze all the standard SW-846 8330 explosives including PETN and nitroglycerin. We have also developed methods for five additional explosive compounds as follows: 2,4-DANT, 2,6-DANT, 3,5-DNA, TATB and TCP.
