Brownfields Redevelopment
GEL Engineering, LLC is proud to be a part of a large Brownfield project in the Southeast. The site includes more than 500
acres in the Charleston "neck area" that are being redeveloped for mixed-use and residential purposes. The properties encompass over
two miles of waterfront on the scenic Ashley River. The former industrial area historically housed a number of phosphate fertilizer
plants, a metal plating facility, and a wood treatment facility. The properties included in the redevelopment plan consist of two EPA
Superfund Sites, two additional EPA Removal Action sites, and numerous DHEC Voluntary Cleanup Contract Sites, making this also one of
the most complex Brownfields properties. GEL Engineering, LLC has been involved with this site from project inception through property
closings, site characterizations, and integration of remediation and redevelopment.
