Over 170 employees participated in GEL's 2020 Water Missions Walk for Water fundraiser!

On Saturday, March 21st, thousands gathered for the annual Walk for Water, a virtual event that impacted people around the world by providing solutions that save lives. 

Celebrating its 14th year, the Charleston Walk for Water is Water Mission's flagship event, gathering thousands of supporters to walk three miles through downtown Charleston. Participants carry buckets filled with water to walk in solidarity with our neighbors around the world who must walk long distances to fetch unsafe, contaminated water.  This year, the walk was held virtually due to the concerns related to large group gatherings and the COVID-19 virus.

In many areas where Water Mission works, women and children spend 2-3 hours walking to collect water every day. In most cases, their walk is one to four miles and the water they collect is not safe for drinking. Through the 2020 virtual Walk for Water, we walked in honor of our neighbors around the world who walk to collect water every single day.

Based in Charleston, Water Mission is a nonprofit Christian engineering organization that builds safe water solutions in developing countries and disaster areas.
