Dr. Alexandra Ashbourne-Walmsley named Managing Director for GEL Laboratories UK Ltd

Dr. Ashbourne-Walmsley has worked in the defense and security industries for almost 20 years. She is the Director of the thriving consultancy firm, Ashbourne Strategic Consulting Ltd, which has clients in the UK, the US, New Zealand and Europe. She also sits on a British government board, which overseas defense exports. Dr. Ashbourne-Walmsley is an Associate Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. She is often quoted in the national and international media as a recognized defense authority.

Dr. Ashbourne-Walmsley grew up mostly in London and graduated from St Andrews University, Scotland, with both her Master’s degree and a PhD. During her postgraduate studies, she also lectured on East European history and politics. She is the author of the book “Lithuania: the rebirth of a Nation”.

Dr. Ashbourne-Walmsley is married to Vice Admiral (Ret.) Sir Robert Walmsley, previously the UK’s defense acquisition chief and Controller of the Navy. A leading expert in nuclear engineering in the UK and a former director of nuclear operators British Energy, Rob is delighted that his wife has followed him into the nuclear sector!

A dual citizen (US-UK), Dr. Ashbourne-Walmsley spends a lot of time crossing the Atlantic.
