Joseph M. Hodgson, Jr.

President and CEO, The GEL Group, Inc.

Mac Hodgson is a graduate of Wake Forest University with almost 20 years of experience in banking, investing, and business operations. Since joining GEL, Mac has been instrumental in finding innovative ways to fulfill our corporate mission, meet our clients' objectives, and establish a strong financial foundation for future expansion. Mac resides in Charleston with his wife, Kathleen, and daughters, Mae and Penny. In his free time, Mac enjoys spending time with his family and coaching youth soccer.

Principal, Director

Keith McCullock has over 36 years of experience as an engineer and in corporate management. As Director, Keith works with each group in the company to ensure that every professional is provided the opportunity to grow within their field while meeting client objectives and project budgets. Keith is a graduate of NC State University. He and his wife, Kathy have two adult daughters, Ashlee and Madison. In his free time, Keith enjoys watching sports, especially college football.

Principal, Senior Technical Advisor for Environmental and Waterfront

Tom Hutto has 37 years of experience and holds graduate and post-graduate degrees in geology. As a respected hydrogeologist and permitting expert, he is routinely called upon for input and management of complex brownfield, dredging and waterfront projects, including expert testimony. He and his wife, Barbara Neale, split their time between the SC coast and the mountains of NC. In his free time, Tom volunteers for the boards of Sustain South Carolina and the Lowcountry Land Trust, as well as serving as a Town of Meggett Councilmember.

Principal, Director of Business Development

Jim Posda has almost 40 years of technical and business development experience. He leads the business development and marketing team and is a vital liaison between GEL Engineering’s clients and technical staff. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Jim maintains his Landscape Architecture licensure lending his expertise to design projects. Jim and his wife, Jan, live in Mount Pleasant and have three adult children and two adorable grandchildren. In his free time, Jim enjoys biking and spending time with his family.

Principal, Environmental Services Business Unit Manager

Bob MacPhee is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with over 33 years of experience in hydrogeology, specializing in Brownfields properties. As the environmental manager, Bob works with members of the site assessment, industrial hygiene, and waterfront permitting groups to ensure that every project is completed with technical expertise that meets the client’s objectives. Bob and his wife, Amy, live in Greenville and have two daughters, Rayne and Ellie. In his free time, Bob enjoys hiking and exploring new trails.

John McLure has over 32 years of engineering experience and has one of the longest tenures at the company. A graduate of Clemson University, John leads a team of civil engineers that specialize in environmental permitting for industrial and commercial clients. John is an active member of conservation organizations and professional associations. He and his wife, Susan, reside on Daniel Island and have two children, Hope and Bates. In his free time, John enjoys hunting, fishing, and cheering on his beloved Tigers.

Bryan Williams is a graduate of Clemson University with over 28 years of civil and environmental experience. He leads a group of engineers that specialize in civil site design, environmental remediation, industrial wastewater treatment, and construction management for industrial, power, and commercial clients. Bryan and his wife, Peggy, live in James Island, have raised their four children, Garrett, Summer, Carolina, and Amber, and are licensed foster parents. He enjoys the outdoors and spending time with friends and family on the water.

Industrial Hygiene Group Leader

Sarah Browning is a Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (C.I.E.C.) and Civil Engineer with over 21 years of experience in Industrial Hygiene. She leads a group of scientists with experience in building and human health influenced by environmental contamination, hazardous materials, and dangerous working conditions. Sarah’s group ensures that our client’s employees are operating in a safe space. She and her daughter, Jenna, reside in Summerville. In her free time, Sarah enjoys volunteering at her daughter’s school and as the president of her neighborhood social committee.

Stack Testing Group Leader

Craig McKenzie is a Qualified Source Testing Individual with over 34 years of experience. A graduate of the Citadel, Craig’s team of fearless individuals routinely climb hundreds of feet in the air to perform stacking testing at industrial facilities across the country. His team provides critical testing that keeps America’s industries in compliance with state and federal regulations. Craig resides in Summerville and has two children, Sarah Anne and Craig, Jr. In his free time, Craig volunteers as a youth baseball umpire.

Managing Surveyor, Survey Group Leader

Garren Mullinax graduated with degrees in engineering technology and geomatics. He has over 28 years of experience with all types of surveying using traditional methods and innovative techniques involving the latest equipment. His team of surveyors travels throughout the southeast working with industrial and commercial clients and performing a variety of land and hydrographic surveys. Garren and his wife, Aleathea, live near Lexington, SC, and have three children: Mavrick, Roman, and Shiloh. In his free time, Garren enjoys boating on South Carolina’s coast.

Managing Engineer Structural Engineering Group

Jonathan Sigman is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with over 25 years of experience in structural engineering. His team of engineers works with municipal, industrial, and commercial clients for the design, inspection, and repair of buildings, bridges, and marine structures. Jonathan and his wife, Erin, live in Charleston and have four kids, Ethan, David, Tova, and Aviva. In his free time, Jonathan likes to play hockey, run, and play bass guitar.

Waterfront and Natural Resources Group Leader

Reggie Reeves has over 17 years of experience in environmental and waterfront issues. He holds graduate and post-graduate degrees in biology and environmental science and has specialty training in ArcGIS data analysis. He leads a team of scientists that perform waterfront permitting and natural resources evaluations for wetland evaluations, dredging studies, and site development. Reggie and his wife, Barbara, reside in Asheville with their two sons, Huck and Holden. In his free time, Reggie enjoys hiking, camping, and biking.

Field Services Group Leader

Robby Gardner has over 18 years of experience in hydrogeologic investigations and specialized sampling techniques. A graduate of Clemson University, Robby leads a team of certified well drillers, geologists, and environmental scientists. This team is at the forefront of every environmental assessment and monitoring program for GEL Engineering’s clients, handling soil, groundwater, sediment, and surface water sampling. Robby lives in West Ashley with his fiancé Renee and daughter Eliza. In his free time, Robby enjoys music and the great outdoors.
